The European Student Think Tank is recruiting a new Board to manage our organization, from September 2017 to September 2018.

The EST’s Board is run by a team of ambitious and visionary students and young professionals of International Affairs, which are tha backbone of the organization. In the EST Board, you will be in charge of managing the whole organization and our projects, which includes a team of Ambassadors, editors, writers and contributers all over Europe, as well as liaising with international organizations and students all over Europe.

As the European Student Think Tank is a student-lead organization, all positions are volunteer based.

Call for President

Are you a responsible, creative and visionary student with leadership skills and a strong grasp of the work of EU institutions? The EST is looking for its next Schuman, Spinelli, Mogherini, or Schulz to chair our organization!

As EST President you will have to balance the internal coordination of the organization, chair the Board and oversee the functioning of all EST bodies, as well as providing support for the board members and decision-taking. You will also be the external representative of the organization, liaising with EU bodies and other organizations.

General requirements:

  • Adaptability to a multicultural and multilingual working environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Strong knowledge of the European Union’s framework and up to date awareness of EU affairs
  • Reliability, intellectual rigor, precision, perseverance, honesty, creativity, co-operative spirit and integrity.


Specific requirements:

  • Leadership skills and an ability to interact with and work with a large pan-european team
  • Strong diplomatic skills as an external representative of the organization, flexibility to travel and represent the EST in events across Europe
  • Fluency in English, French and at least one other EU language and ability to represent the organization in these languages
  • Practical experience within International Organizations is an asset
  • Certifiable experience managing large teams is an asset

Call for Secretary

 The European Student Think Tank is looking for a new Secretary whom will manage our external relations and partnerships, as well as having a supporting role for the board and the ambassadors.

In your position as the Secretary of the EST, you are first and foremost responsible for the internal communication, planning and obtaining and maintaining of relations with partner organizations. The secretary also assists the rest of the board and as a of the directive board the secretary together with the president and the treasurer gives guidance to the work of the Board as a whole. The Secretary is the person that gets contacted most by other parties, which can vary from potential partners, to people hosting an event, the BBC, a Spanish newspaper, or simply students asking what the EST focuses on.

You will partake in weekly meetings with the entire board (most likely via Skype-calls) and aim to enhance the EST’s agenda through your own ideas and by supporting the rest of the board and the ambassadors. Since the EST is such a young organization there is a lot of room to come up with your own ideas and plans.

  •  A lot of own initiative is required
  • Practical experience within international organisations is an asset
  • The position will take about 8-10 hours per week
  • A professional attitude towards partners is a must

Call for Treasurer 

The European Student Think Tank is looking for a new Treasurer who is capable of guiding the European NGO towards greater (financial) possibilities and opportunities.

Due to the growth of the organisation and the desire to further professionalization the role of Treasurer is becoming a more prominent one than before. In this role you will be responsible for all treasury affairs within the organisation. You will be keen to develop and grow within your position as Treasurer and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.

As Treasurer you are responsible for the recruitment of sponsors, you are in charge of the budget, and you are first and foremost authorized to make payments for and invest on behalf of the EST. Furthermore, you stand at the helm of the organisation as you, along with the Secretary and the President, take strategic decisions for the organization in the Directive Board. Lastly you will represent the EST domestically and abroad as you are, like other board members, a representative of the youth-driven think tank.

General requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of the European Union’s framework and up to date awareness of EU affairs

  • Experience with fundraising and managing the budget of a committee or organisation;
  • Capable of ensuring accurate and complete financial reporting and proper maintenance of financial records;
  • Practical experience within international organisations is an asset

Call for International Officer

The European Student Think Tank is looking for a new head of its International Office! Join the vibrant community as the person in charge of vast network of EST ambassadors and help expand this community throughout Europe.

As the International Officer you are tasked with recruiting ambassadors, who represent the EST locally and organize events in their respective country. You will have to coordinate their work, assist them in their projects and establish an effective system of communication between the International Office, the ambassadors and the rest of the EST.

General requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Strong knowledge of the European Union’s framework and up to date awareness of EU affairs
  • Reliability, flexibility, intellectual rigor, precision, perseverance, honesty, creativity, co-operative spirit and integrity.

Specific requirements:

  • Strong leadership, communication and time management skills
  • An ability to work with a large international team via telecommunication
  • An ability to motivate and inspire work colleagues
  • Previous experience with project coordination, NGOs or other associations is an asset. Previous work experience as an EST ambassador is a particular asset

Call for Editor in Chief

Are you an avid reader of international affairs journals and do you have the coordination and editing skills to oversee the publications of our think-tank? Are you an organized and creative student with strong communication? Good news, the EST is looking for you!

As Editor in Chief, you will manage incoming article submissions, a team of writers from across Europe, and our editorial staff. Along with ensuring the day-to-day publication of short articles and interviews, you will be responsible for producing our annual academic, peer-reviewed journal: The European Policy Review.

As the position of Editor in Chief requires the coordination of publications ranging from articles to in-depth analysis, we are looking for a student in the final stages of their studies with a wide grasp of International Affairs analysis and academic writing.

General requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
  • Strong knowledge of the European Union’s framework and up to date awareness of EU affairs
  • Reliability, intellectual rigor, precision, perseverance, honesty, creativity, co-operative spirit and integrity.

  • Strong English editing skills; previous editing experience is an asset
  • Ability to manage a large team of remotely located writers and editors
  • Aptitude for time management and the ability to turn out content on a deadline
  • Creative mindset and a desire to initiate new ways of engaging the EST audience with our content
  • Knowledge of the work of other academic journals and publications

Call for Director of Communications

Do you have a background in Journalism, Communications or International Affairs? Are you fascinated by how communication can bridge the gap between the EU and young people, and are you able to engage large audiences and convey our work across Europe?

As Director of Communications you will be in charge of the whole communication strategy of our organization, managing social media accounts, our website, and writing press releases and official declarations. You will also engage in marketing our organization and increase our online brand. As communications are an ongoing process, we are looking for someone who is available to post every day, who is creative and has high English skills or is a native English speaker.

General requirements:

  • Adaptability to a multicultural and multilingual working environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Strong knowledge of the European Union’s framework and up to date awareness of EU affairs
  • Reliability, intellectual rigor, precision, perseverance, honesty, creativity, co-operative spirit and integrity.


Specific requirements:

  • Background in Journalism or Communications, or work/internship experience related to the field of communications
  • Ability to write different types of pieces (news items, press releases, statements, interviews)
  • Creativity and vision for social media and marketing
  • High level of English (French is also an asset, and so are other EU languages)
  • Basic design skills are an asset
